The SR20det starter is difficult to reproduce or rebuilt/remanufacture.
It is known that for the past few years a GENERIC brand of SR20det starter has flooded the market. Definition of a replacement starter is: just a generic/knock-off starter that has been produced to fit the bolt pattern & fitment size of your original OEM, "aka" a 'cheap decoy" (you know the ..brand names).

The REAL issue is that these starters are coming out of a mold (by the thousands) in India, have inferior internals (India & China), inferior armature & brushes and inferior solenoids. they are also being sold with a "lifetime" warrantee but as everyone knows: a limited lifetime warranty is only against manufacturers defects.. as most of you know any manufacturer will tell you "it's not our defect" & tell you to go buy another one! That's just how limited lifetime warrantees are...
It gets worse: as these Chinese/India made products find their way to the distributor they all get labeled by the brand name the distributor chooses so now we do not have just a generic starter alone...but a whole line of aftermarket generic(s): radiators, coilover kits, intakes, thermostats, silicone hoses, carbon fiber parts, cooling fans, intercoolers, mounting kits, bolts & nuts... and the list goes...on! You see... there is really no manufacturer that specializes on such a broad production and with different materials used like: steel. rubber, carbon fiber, plastic, aluminum etc. & still produce a quality product... unless it's a major corporation like GE (from industrial paint to light bulbs). These India/china parts come from many company names to you but only one manufacturer!
In other words... "we make parts for ALL USES... masters of... NONE!
